One Little Earth Sponsors Talks by Author of New Children's Book

In October, One Little Earth released its first children’s nature book created in alliance with indie publisher The Little Press. Wonder Of The Woods by author-illustrator Bonnie Kelso is a lyrical story about a young girl's adventure into the park near her home.

To help celebrate the occasion, One Little Earth founder Debra Wolf Goldstein arranged for the author to speak with students at both campuses of the Wissahickon Charter School, a K-8 tuition-free public charter school in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.

Bonnie entertained kindergartners and first graders as she read excerpts from the book via live stream from Nevada. The children particularly enjoyed seeing Bonnie demonstrate the illustration software she used to create the book's images. After the reading, all 220 kids went home with copies of the brand-new hardcover book!

Students listen to a reading of the book Wonder of the Woods.

"Thank you again for bringing Wonder of the Woods to Wissahickon. The kids love the story and our teachers are excited to incorporate it into our Forest School curriculum. Bonnie's presentations were so much fun!"

-- Jane Walsh, Director of Development, Wissahickon Charter School

One Little Earth is also providing free copies of the book to several other area nonprofits serving youth, including Tree House Books in North Philadelphia; Mighty Writers; and Outward Bound!
