Debra Wolf Goldstein, founder of One Little Earth, has been asked to serve as a judge for the prestigious Green Earth Book Awards. This annual prize, now in its 20th year, brings attention to the best books published each year that inspire youth to grow a deeper respect, understanding, and responsibility for our earth.
Over 200 enviro-themed books were submitted for consideration this year in the picture book, fiction, nonfiction, middle grade, and young adult categories. Debra will serve as a judge on the intermediate picture book panel.
The short list and award winners will be announced on Earth Day and the award celebration will take place in the fall.

‘Tis The Season for Environmental Film Festivals
When the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival was getting started in 2017, Debra and festival cofounder Alexandra Drobac Diagne studied other enviro film festivals to see how they ran their events. Two of the best were in New York City and in Washington, DC. These two enviro festivals are screening exciting new films again this year. Sign up on their websites to get info on film listings and times.
The DC festival – billed as the world’s biggest – runs from March 21-30. Screenings are held at museums and other institutions throughout the city.
The New York WILD Film Festival runs from April 4-7. It screens top-notch documentary films focusing on exploration, adventure, and wildlife.
